E8 announced on the 9th that it has been selected as the lead research and development institution for the new national project 'Development and Demonstration of Building Energy Management Simulator based on BIM-utilized Digital Twin,' promoted by the Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning.

A total of 10 companies and institutions, including E8 and Hanwha, are participating in this project. It aims to develop an integrated platform that links BIM (Building Information Modeling) data with digital twins to manage building energy facilities in real-time, and to implement AI-based optimal control and predictive maintenance of equipment. The main research contents are as follows.

▲ Real-time visualization monitoring of energy facilities based on BIM ▲ Establishment of a digital twin operation platform ▲ Development of 3D visualization technology linking BIM shape information and IoT sensor data ▲ Establishment of a pipeline for integrating and verifying heterogeneous data

The project execution period is from April 1, 2026, to December 31, 2029. The total research and development cost is 15.3 billion 4.82 million won, of which 13 billion won is a government subsidy. E8 will receive a 3.3 billion won government subsidy and is expected to bear an institutional burden of 1.65 billion won in research and development expenses. The company's equity capital is 14.5 billion 99.51 million won, and this government-supported R&D expense (3.3 billion won) is equivalent to 22.60% of its equity.

Through this project, E8 expects to secure BIM-based digital twin (DT) and data convergence technologies, while anticipating synergy effects such as energy cost reduction, operational efficiency improvement, and the establishment of an integrated digital twin infrastructure at the city and complex levels.

Meanwhile, the date of occurrence and the date of decision for this matter are June 9, 2026, when the electronic agreement was signed. The company explained that the project execution period and business expenses may change in the future depending on government policies or consultations among participating institutions.
