On the 29th, domestic nuclear-related stocks closed with mixed results, showing divergent trends by individual stock. Investor supply and demand exhibited differentiated patterns across different stocks.
Looking at the stocks that closed higher, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) recorded 39,400 won, up 0.89% from the previous day. Doosan Enerbility was also traded at 106,800 won, up 0.84%, while KEPCO KPS continued its upward trend, rising 0.38% to 51,500 won.
On the other hand, stocks that ended the day lower were also noticeable. KEPCO E&C closed the session at 134,200 won, down 1.10%, while Geumhwa PSC finished at 31,200 won, a 1.42% drop. Woojin also finished trading at 15,210 won, down 2.12%. In addition, Sujisan Industry (-3.10%), Woojin (-3.13%), Orbitech (-3.41%), and Woojin Entec (-3.92%) were unable to escape their weak performance.
The market is pointing to the potential expansion of the SMR (Small Modular Reactor) business and expectations for global nuclear plant order wins as key mid-to-long-term investment points. In particular, in the NXT (after-hours closing price trading) market held after the regular session ended, some nuclear stocks, such as Doosan Enerbility, rebounded into slightly positive territory, showing signs of recovery.
The recent slight mitigation of geopolitical risks in the Middle East is also having a positive effect on improving market sentiment. However, it has been pointed out that a selective approach is necessary, as stock price trends may diverge in the short term depending on the individual company's performance and order momentum.
