Naver Makes Strategic Investment in UbyFi... Establishes Physical AI Drone Ecosystem Combining 'AI and Cloud'

UbyFi has secured a strategic investment from Naver and signed a partnership, officially launching its offensive in the next-generation drone market. The two companies will collaborate to realize a 'Physical AI infrastructure' by combining autonomous drone technology and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.

Through this collaboration, the two companies plan to focus on building an unmanned system ecosystem applicable to various industrial sites, including public sectors and smart cities. Specifically, UbyFi's autonomous swarm flight technology will be integrated with Naver's AI, cloud, and digital twin technologies. This technological integration aims to develop a 'Physical AI solution' that allows drones to collect and analyze real-world data in real-time and make independent decisions. From a long-term business perspective, the two companies also plan to explore ways to pioneer new markets, including public safety and smart city sectors.

Naver's investment is a result of its high evaluation of the achievements UbyFi has built through its global swarm drone technology and export performance. UbyFi's key achievements are as follows:

  • Holder of the Guinness World Record for the world's largest drone swarm
  • First drone company to win the '$10 Million Export Tower'
  • The only South Korean participant on the board of directors of the Dronecode Foundation, which oversees PX4, a core operating system for the drone industry

UbyFi CEO Lim Hyun stated regarding the partnership with Naver, "We are delighted to be working with Naver, which possesses world-class AI capabilities." Expressing his resolve, he stated that he would use this investment as a springboard to further advance swarm drone technology and implement Physical AI solutions across various industrial sites.

Naver CEO Choi Soo-yeon emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating, "As AI technologies such as physical AI, autonomous driving, and robotics increasingly show potential for expansion in the real world, drones are also gaining attention as a crucial future technology sector."
