In the voting results for the Business Figure Award in the corporate category of the May Netizen Awards, Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong defended his top position.
In this vote, which concluded on the 31st of last month, Chairman Lee Jae-yong secured a total of 1,835 votes, recording 1st place with a 46.8% share. Chairman Lee, who received support nearing a majority last month, saw his share slightly adjust this month; however, he solidified his lead with an unrivaled figure, continuing his consecutive winning streak.
In the top tier, Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun maintained his pursuit, forming a solid two-top structure. Chairman Chung Eui-sun secured 1,033 votes, firmly defending 2nd place with a 26.4% share. Chairman Chung, who pulled his support rate up by 0.7 percentage points from last month's 25.7%, combined with Chairman Lee to capture 73.2% of the total vote, firmly establishing a powerful two-horse race in the business figure category.
In the competition for the mid-to-high ranks, the mixed fortunes of the executives who tied for 3rd place last month led to a reshuffling of the rankings. Shinsegae Group Chairman Chung Yong-jin rose to sole 3rd place with 288 votes (7.3%), while Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin secured 201 votes (5.1%), settling in 4th place, up one step. On the other hand, Hotel Shilla CEO Lee Boo-jin, who was tied for 3rd with Chairman Chung Yong-jin, saw her voter support somewhat stall, remaining in 5th place with 182 votes (4.6%).
Voting competition among major business executives was also fierce between 6th and 8th place. CJ Group Chairman Lee Jae-hyun took sole 6th place with 142 votes (3.6%), and newly ranked Hanwha Group Vice Chairman Kim Dong-kwan entered 7th place with 116 votes (3.0%). This was followed by LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, who settled in 8th place with 105 votes (2.7%).
At the bottom of the rankings, precious votes were gathered to produce meaningful results. SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won recorded 9th place with 9 votes (0.2%), and Naver GIO Lee Hae-jin took 10th place with 8 votes (0.2%), concluding this month's Business Figure Award voting race.
