Samsung Heavy Industries announced on the 8th that it has signed a contract to build one liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier with a shipowner in the Oceania region.

The contract is valued at 385.5 billion won, which accounts for 3.6% of Samsung Heavy Industries' consolidated sales of 10.65 trillion won in 2025. The completed vessel is scheduled to be delivered to the Oceania region.

The contract date is June 5, 2026, and the contract period runs from June 5 of the same year to January 8, 2029. Samsung Heavy Industries will receive a deposit and progress payments, and is scheduled to be paid the balance based on future construction progress.

The company explained that the contract amount was calculated by applying the base exchange rate for buying and selling as of the contract date (1,528.6 won per dollar), and both the contract amount and recent sales were rounded to the nearest hundred million won. It added that the contract end date is based on the vessel delivery date and may change depending on future construction progress.
