Samsung Heavy Industries announced on the 8th that it has signed a contract to supply one unit of an offshore production facility for a shipowner in the African region.

The value of this contract is 1.9046 trillion won, marking a massive order equivalent to 17.9% of Samsung Heavy Industries' 2025 consolidated revenue (10.65 trillion won). Both the contracting party and the supply region are in Africa. The official order date is June 6, 2026, and the contract period is set from June 5, 2023, to September 30, 2029. The payment includes a deposit and advance payment, and will be paid according to the progress of the construction.

According to the company, the total construction scale of this offshore production facility is 2.39 billion USD, which amounts to approximately 3.7 trillion won when applying the exchange rate as of the contract date (1 USD = 1,528.6 won). The announced contract amount (1.9046 trillion won) was calculated by applying the exchange rate to the remaining 1.25 billion USD, excluding the previously signed and disclosed preliminary work contract portion (1.14 billion USD) from the total construction cost.

Samsung Heavy Industries explained that prior to signing this main contract, it had entered into multiple preliminary work contracts with the client, and among them, the contract signed on July 4, 2025, has already been disclosed. It also added that the contract end date was calculated based on the scheduled issuance date of the Provisional Acceptance Certificate from the client, and may be subject to change depending on future construction progress.
