The domestic stock market showed a strong upward trend, significantly improving investor sentiment. As of the trading session on the 15th, the KOSPI (composite index) jumped from the previous trading day to record 8,505 points.

In the market that day, expectations of a ceasefire between the United States and Iran stimulated risk appetite, while an influx of buying from foreign and retail investors drove the index higher. By investor type, foreign buying was the most prominent. Foreign investors net purchased 1.5167 trillion won, and retail investors also net purchased 144 billion won. Meanwhile, institutions net sold 1.6581 trillion won, realizing profits.

Market assessments indicate that recent expectations for easing tensions in the Middle East and the recovery of global risk appetite are positively impacting the stock market. In particular, if the inflow of foreign capital continues, the possibility of further gains centered on large-cap stocks is also being discussed.

However, the potential for expanded volatility due to the short-term surge remains a variable. Some analysts suggest that investor sentiment could be influenced by future global economic indicators, monetary policies of major countries, and changes in geopolitical issues. Currently, the market is maintaining its strong upward momentum under a supply-demand dynamic characterized by joint buying from foreigners and retail investors, alongside institutional profit-taking.
