The Korea Exchange announced that it activated a Level 1 Circuit Breaker (CB) in the KOSPI market at 9:03:42 a.m. on the 8th.

According to the announcement, the KOSPI index recorded 7,474.74 that day, falling by 685.85 points (8.40%) compared to the previous day's closing price (8,160.59). As the KOSPI composite index remained down more than 8% from the previous day's close for one minute, trading in the stock market was completely halted for 20 minutes.

The exchange also explained follow-up measures to stabilize the market. In the future, if the KOSPI index falls by more than 15% compared to the previous day's close, and remains down an additional 1% or more from the Level 1 trigger index for one minute, a Level 2 Circuit Breaker will be activated to halt trading again for 20 minutes.

Additionally, if the index falls by more than 20% from the previous day's close after the Level 2 activation, and remains down an additional 1% or more from the Level 2 trigger index for one minute, a Level 3 Circuit Breaker will be activated, completely ending trading in the stock market for the day.

This measure is in accordance with Article 25 of the Stock Market Business Regulations and Article 39 of the Enforcement Rules of the same regulations.
