Gaon Lines (000500) soared to its price limit during trading on the 17th, settling at the upper limit. The influx of buying pressure was so intense that the Volatility Interruption (VI) mechanism was triggered multiple times.

As of 10:33 a.m. on the same day, Gaon Lines was trading at 341,000 won, up 78,500 won (29.90%) from the previous trading day.

According to the Korea Exchange, both static and dynamic VIs were triggered in succession for Gaon Lines. The sequence of triggers is as follows.

First, a static VI was triggered at 9:00:17 a.m. and lifted at 9:02:19 a.m. In the NXT market, a dynamic VI was triggered at 9:00:30 a.m. and released at 9:02:30 a.m. Subsequently, an NXT dynamic VI was triggered again at 9:02:31 a.m. and lifted at 9:04:31 a.m.

In the KRX market, a static VI was triggered at 9:14:44 a.m. and lifted at 9:16:45 a.m., followed by another static VI triggered at 10:15:46 a.m. and released at 10:18:14 a.m. Afterward, a static VI was triggered once more at 10:31:36 a.m. and lifted at 10:33:44 a.m.

Despite the repeated triggering of VIs, Gaon Lines steadily expanded its gains and ultimately recorded the upper limit.

Investors are closely monitoring trading volume trends, supply and demand changes, and whether the stock can maintain its upper limit, given the heightened volatility accompanying the sharp short-term surge.
