U.S. stock markets will fully suspend trading for one day on June 19 (local time) in observance of the U.S. federal holiday "Juneteenth National Independence Day."

What is Juneteenth? Juneteenth is a day commemorating the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. It celebrates the occasion on June 19, 1865, when the news of emancipation was officially delivered in Galveston, Texas. The U.S. government designated this day as a federal holiday in 2021, and since then, major U.S. financial markets have observed it as a regular market holiday.

Market Closure and Reopening Schedule Due to this closure, all stock trading on June 19, including regular trading on the New York Stock Exchange as well as pre-market and after-hours trading, will be suspended. Major U.S. financial markets will also be closed, so investors should take note of this. All market trading will resume normally on Monday, June 22, after the holiday and weekend, and orders and transactions will be available as usual from that point on.

Next Market Holiday and Korean Stock Market Schedule Following the Juneteenth closure, the next major U.S. stock market holiday is Independence Day. This year, the market is scheduled to be closed on Friday, July 3, the day before the holiday.

Meanwhile, the Korea Exchange (KRX) will open normally on June 19. Trading in both the KOSPI and KOSDAQ markets will proceed as usual without any changes.
