Singer Soyou has successfully wrapped up her solo concert, once again proving her capabilities as a solo artist. Soyou held her solo concert 'Off Hours' on the 6th at Yes24 Wonder Rock Hall in Seoul. During this performance, she presented all the tracks from her third EP 'Off Hours', released last April, with a full band live performance.
Creating a casual atmosphere with a free-standing format, Soyou overwhelmed the stage by perfectly executing a solid musical journey across various genres through flawless live singing. She built a narrative with the sound of her EP 'Off Hours', which encapsulates her expanded musical spectrum and deepened artistry.
Starting with the sensuous intro 'Be Honest' and leading into 'Conversation' and 'See through', she three-dimensionally showcased fresh musical attempts. Subsequently, during the 'Business', 'Meoreojinda', and 'Heumppeok' stages, she heightened the immersion by layering her unique vocal tone over smooth band sounds. In particular, the stage for 'Girl'—where she participated in writing the lyrics to add authenticity—harmonized autobiographical lyrics and a delicate message with her nuanced vocals and the full band performance. Recalling the time working on 'Girl', Soyou confessed, "I tried to keep my mind at ease. It was a period of letting things go, and it is the song that best captures my story."
Amidst the rising excitement, singer-songwriter Lee Mujin made a surprise guest appearance, adding vitality to Soyou's stage where she sang 'Drivin' me' and radiated her innate aura. Lee Mujin sequentially sang his hit songs 'Traffic Light', 'Episode', and 'Romance Manga', displaying a heartwarming scene of the senior and junior singers cheering each other on.
The latter half of the concert was also decorated with diverse stages. After consecutively performing the 'Kkamanbam' and 'PDA' stages in sync with dancers, she displayed her seasoned skills with the 'GOTTA GO' stage. Presenting the stages for 'Good Person' and 'Eokkae', Soyou briefly performed 'Pilbaege' live on the spot while conversing with fans, breathing closely with the audience.
Afterward, going through the drama 'Goblin' OST 'I Miss You' and 'Rain', she showcased her qualities as a vocalist through covers of Ben's 'In Love' and DAY6's 'You Were Beautiful'. Before singing the fan song 'Lonely serenity', she expressed her gratitude to the fans. In response, the fans also moved her by holding a slogan event with an affectionate message that read, 'We will be the only light that holds Soyou'. Soyou, who heated up the atmosphere of the venue with 'Officially Missing You, Too', prepared a SISTAR medley ('Busy', 'GIVE IT TO ME', 'Touch My Body') for the encore, drawing explosive cheers. Finally, singing 'Funny', she came down from the stage and made eye contact with the fans up close, marking the ending and leaving a profound lingering impression.
Debuting in 2010 as a member of the group SISTAR, Soyou has established an irreplaceable presence in the music industry, succeeding numerous hit drama OSTs and solo singles following her group activities that spanned all generations. She achieved consecutive hits with multiple collaboration songs such as 'Stupid in love' and 'Rain', and continues her legacy through the success of various OSTs for dramas including 'The Scarecrow', 'Love in the Moonlight', 'Goblin', and 'When the Camellia Blooms'. In particular, since joining Magic Strawberry Sound last year, she has been building an even more solid musical world as a solo artist, earning the trust of both critics and the public.
Having solidified her robust musical filmography, Soyou seamlessly led this solo concert as well, completing a well-made performance. Attention is focused on the musical world and new steps Soyou will unfold in the future, as she radiates a distinct presence on every stage.
