LG Electronics has launched a dedicated 'LGE.com' app that can be used within OpenAI's ChatGPT.
The newly introduced dedicated app utilizes OpenAI's 'Apps in ChatGPT' service. This service helps users directly call and use external services within the ChatGPT chat window. Its key feature is supporting functions that lead to actual actions, such as search, reservation, shopping, and content creation, all within a single conversational flow. The service was first unveiled in October last year and has been available in Korea since early this year.
Using the newly added LG Electronics dedicated app, users can immediately check LG product purchase information and subscription benefits from the ChatGPT chat window. It also directly connects to product detail and promotion pages, facilitating easy product exploration and purchase. Additionally, for everyday questions related to electronics, users can quickly receive highly reliable answers based on information from the LG Electronics official online mall.
Using the app is simple. By searching for 'LGE.COM' in 'Apps' within the ChatGPT menu tab and clicking 'Start Chat,' the first chat window opens. After the initial execution, the app can be called up directly without a separate search through the 'More (+)' button next to the chat window.
Lee Il-se, head of LG Electronics' Korea Sales AX division, stated, "Following the AI-based chatbot service first introduced in the domestic electronics industry in September of last year, we expect customer accessibility and convenience to improve even further with the integration of the dedicated ChatGPT app this month." He added, "Moving forward, we will continue to expand integration with major platforms and channels that customers use daily to seamlessly support the customer journey throughout the entire process of purchasing and using LG appliances, providing a differentiated customer experience."
Meanwhile, LG Electronics introduced an AI-based chatbot service through its official online mall and KakaoTalk messenger in September of last year. The service supports product exploration, adding items to the cart, product management inquiries, and after-sales service applications. In particular, it provides answers based not only on text but also on images and videos, creating an intuitive customer communication environment.
