Kwang Photonics (017900) showed strong upward momentum from early in the trading session, triggering the Volatility Interruption (VI) mechanism twice.

According to the Korea Exchange (KRX) on the 16th, the first VI for Kwang Photonics was triggered at 9:04:40 a.m. and lifted at 9:06:52 a.m. Subsequently, an additional VI was triggered at 9:21:50 a.m. and lifted at 9:23:52 a.m.

As of 9:30 a.m. on the same day, Kwang Photonics is trading at 10,830 won, up 1,830 won (20.33%) from the previous trading day. As a wave of buying orders poured in early in the session, the stock price surged by more than 20% in an instant. Even after the VI was lifted, the stock maintained its gains, stably trading above the 10,000-won level and drawing concentrated attention from investors.

Trading volume has also been increasing rapidly, with short-term supply and demand driving the stock price. Recently, the combination of a broader market preference for risk assets and individual stock momentum has been expanding stock price volatility.
