Early in the trading session on the 17th, a surge in buying interest for semiconductor equipment stock Wonik IPS triggered a Volatility Interruption (VI), showing a sharp upward trend. At the same time, the KOSPI declined while the KOSDAQ rose, with both major indices showing divergent movements.

As of 9:37 a.m., Wonik IPS was trading at 168,300 won, up 12,200 won (7.82%) from the previous trading day. According to the Korea Exchange, a static VI was triggered at 9:10 a.m. that day and was lifted at 9:12:19 a.m. Even after the VI was lifted, the stock maintained its gains, continuing its strong trend in the 168,000-won range.

At the same time, the KOSPI recorded 8,646.92, down 79.68 points (0.91%) from the previous trading day, while the KOSDAQ maintained its upward trend, rising 5.65 points (0.55%) to 1,024.33, resulting in a mixed performance across both indices.

Following the lifting of the VI, investors should closely monitor intraday supply and demand changes as well as stock price movements.
