LG Energy Solution is receiving consecutive positive evaluations from the securities market, driven by the explosive growth of the domestic electric vehicle (EV) market and expectations for the expansion of its energy storage system (ESS) business.

During the morning session on the 19th, LG Energy Solution traded at 407,000 won, up 1.75% from the previous trading day.

KB Securities maintained its 'Buy' investment opinion and presented a target price of 580,000 won. Based on the previous day's closing price, this indicates approximately 45% of additional upside potential.

ESS and 46-Series to Drive Mid- to Long-Term Growth

The securities market projected that the expansion of large-scale ESS orders would contribute to improving the utilization rate of battery production lines. Additionally, the rapidly growing order backlog for the next-generation cylindrical battery, the 46-series, is expected to serve as a mid- to long-term growth driver from 2026 to 2028.

In particular, the potential recovery in demand in the U.S. EV market in the second half and the forecast for a turnaround to positive free cash flow (FCF) in 2027 were cited as key factors supporting investor sentiment.

Domestic EV Market Offsets U.S. Demand Slowdown

The growth of the domestic EV market also received a positive assessment. Domestic EV sales from January to May this year were found to have increased by 122% compared to the same period last year. The securities market analyzed that the expansion of the domestic market could largely offset the impact of the slowdown in U.S. EV demand.

In the market, there is an assessment that although the growth rate of the global EV market has slowed somewhat, the diversification of the business portfolio centered on ESS and next-generation batteries can simultaneously improve both earnings stability and growth potential.
