Samsung Biologics announced on the 22nd through a corrected regulatory filing that it has expanded the scale of its contract manufacturing organization (CMO) agreement with an Asia-based pharmaceutical company to approximately KRW 215.9 billion.

The correction was made at the request of the client. The contract amount increased from the previous KRW 144.61 billion to KRW 215.94 billion, up by KRW 71.33 billion. Accordingly, the contract's proportion relative to the company's revenue also expanded from the previous 31.12% to 46.48%.

The specific identity of the contracting party was not disclosed for reasons of maintaining business confidentiality, and was listed in the filing only as an 'Asia-based pharmaceutical company.' Additionally, the contract period was significantly extended from the previous deadline of December 31, 2028, to December 31, 2037.

The company also explained the basis for calculating the contract amount. The corrected contract amount was calculated by applying the exchange rate as of August 14, 2018 (KRW 1,133.70 per USD 1) to the finalized amount of USD 190,475,800, which represents an increase of USD 62,920,000 from the previous USD 127,555,800.

Meanwhile, the contract was originally signed on August 14, 2018. The company added that the contract expiration date and contract amount may be subject to further changes in the future by mutual agreement between the two parties.
