The National Tax Service (NTS) will disburse the second-half earned income and child tax credits for the 2025 tax year to stabilize the livelihoods of low-income working households.
On the 26th, the NTS announced that it would pay a total of 1.8087 trillion won in earned income and child tax credits to 1.92 million households with only earned income.
By breakdown, the earned income tax credit amounts to 1.6475 trillion won for 1.79 million households, while the child tax credit totals 161.2 billion won for 130,000 households. When combined with the 553.3 billion won paid in December for the first-half installment, a total of 2.362 trillion won in tax credits for the 2025 tax year will have been disbursed to 2.04 million households.
Regarding the characteristics of the recipients, single-person households accounted for approximately 70% of the total at 1.26 million. By age group, those aged 60 and above made up 46%, at 830,000 households.
Applicants with income sources other than earned income are considered regular applicants and will receive payments after a screening process on August 27. The tax credits will be deposited into the bank accounts selected at the time of application. Cash recipients can collect their payments at post office counters by presenting their ID and the national tax refund notice. If the notice is lost, it can be reprinted by visiting a tax office or through Hometax.
The NTS explained that the tax credit payment results have been notified via mail and mobile, and can also be verified through Hometax, the automated response system, and the tax credit consultation center.
