U.S. stock markets, which closed mixed overnight, will suspend all trading for one day on July 3 (local time) in observance of the substitute holiday for the U.S. federal holiday 'Independence Day.'

Independence Day, one of the most important national holidays in the United States, commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. Since the actual holiday, July 4, falls on a Saturday this year, major U.S. financial markets observed the regular holiday on the preceding day, July 3.

Due to the closure, all stock trading on the New York Stock Exchange will be suspended on July 3, including regular trading hours as well as pre-market and after-hours sessions. Bond markets and other major U.S. financial markets will also close across the board, requiring investors to exercise special caution.

All normal market trading will resume on July 6 (local time), following the end of the holiday and weekend. From that day on, investors will be able to place orders and trade as usual. Meanwhile, the next major U.S. stock market holiday after Independence Day is Thanksgiving, scheduled for November 26.

Earlier, on July 2 (local time), U.S. stock markets closed mixed. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.14% from the previous trading day to close at 52,900.07, while the Nasdaq Composite Index fell 0.80% to 25,832.67. The S&P 500 Index finished trading at 7,483.24.
