[Breaking] Hanwha Ocean Plunges 18% in Pre-Market NXT Trading... Dynamic VI Triggered After Missing Canadian Submarine Contract

Hanwha Ocean (042660) saw a dynamic Volatility Interruption (VI) mechanism triggered as its shares plunged sharply in pre-market trading on the alternative exchange (NXT).

As of 8:05 a.m. on the 7th, Hanwha Ocean was trading at 95,100 won in pre-market NXT, down 18.0% from the previous trading day. The dynamic VI was activated due to the sharp decline in share price.

The direct cause of the plunge was the company's failure to be ultimately selected in the bid for Canada's Next-Generation Submarine Project (CPSP). Hanwha Ocean mounted an all-out effort backed by government-level support, domestic submarine technology, and the Navy's operational experience, but ultimately failed to secure the final contract.

The company issued an official statement, saying, "We will thoroughly analyze the lessons identified in this bidding competition to further strengthen our competitiveness in the naval defense industry."

Market analysts believe that expectations for winning the large-scale overseas defense project had been partially priced into the stock, and the news of the missed contract directly led to profit-taking sell-offs and a contraction in investor sentiment.

However, future achievements such as other overseas projects are cited as key variables that will determine the mid- to long-term stock price trend.
