A volatility curb (VI) was triggered as Samsung Electro-Mechanics (009150) showed a sharp decline during trading. As of 11:45 a.m. on the 7th, Samsung Electro-Mechanics is trading at 1,791,000 won, down 198,000 won (9.95%) from the previous trading day. Following the activation of a static VI at 11:42 a.m. today, it was lifted at 11:44 a.m. and 10 seconds as selling pressure expanded, causing the stock to fall below the 1,800,000-won level during the session.

The domestic stock market is also in an overall downward trend. At the same time, the KOSPI is recording 7,848.54, down 239.80 points (2.96%) from the previous trading day, while the KOSDAQ is at 827.56, down 40.85 points (4.70%), both undergoing a simultaneous correction. The investment burden on large-cap tech stocks, including semiconductors, appears to be spreading across the broader market.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics had previously attracted market attention with its business outlook for AI data center and server package substrates, as well as MLCC (Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitors), but it showed a clear downward trend in today's session as market volatility increased.

The expanded volatility of Samsung Electro-Mechanics, currently ranked fifth in KOSPI market capitalization, is also leading to a contraction in overall market investment sentiment. The afternoon stock price movement is expected to be determined by the supply and demand trends of foreign and institutional investors, as well as whether investment sentiment in the semiconductor sector recovers.
