Samsung Heavy Industries has won a contract to build two oil tankers worth a total of 284.9 billion won from a shipowner based in Bermuda.
According to Samsung Heavy Industries on the 8th, the contract amount is 284.9 billion won. This represents 2.7% of the company's recent revenue (10.65 trillion won) based on the 2025 consolidated financial statements. The company calculated the amount using the base exchange rate (1,531.8 won per dollar) on the contract date of July 7, 2026, and both the contract amount and recent revenue were disclosed after rounding to the nearest hundred million won.
The contract period runs from the execution date of July 7, 2026, to May 15, 2029. The contract end date is based on the vessel delivery date and may be subject to change depending on the progress of construction.
The counterparty, a Bermuda-based shipowner, has been confirmed to have no special relationship with Samsung Heavy Industries. Contract deposits and advance payments will be made, and payments will be received sequentially based on the progress of construction.
