'The Perfect Marriage' (directed by Kim Jung-hyun and Kim Min-tae, written by Jung Jae-ha, produced by Red Nine Pictures and KBS Media) is a crime thriller depicting the process of a husband, Kang Tae-joo (played by Namgoong Min), confronting criminals to rescue his wife after she is kidnapped just before their divorce.
Episode 2 recorded a peak minute rating of 7.2% and a nationwide rating of 6.4% according to Nielsen Korea, breaking its own record. In addition, it ranked No. 1 on Disney+'s 'Today's Top 10 Series in Korea,' and placed 6th in the TV-OTT Drama Buzz category and 4th in the TV Drama Buzz category in Good Data Corporation's Fundex Report.
In the recent broadcast, Kang Tae-joo, a neurosurgeon at Uri Together Hospital, served divorce papers to his wife Ko Se-yoon (played by Lee El), only for Ko Se-yoon to be kidnapped by No Man-hee (played by Kim Dae-myung). Kang Tae-joo was urgently arrested and detained at a police station on charges of instigating his wife's kidnapping and murder, triggered by words he uttered while drunk. He later came face-to-face with the mysterious Lee Soo-hyung (played by Park Byung-eun) in the police station restroom, maximizing the tension.
In particular, Kang Tae-joo's escape scene, taking advantage of the chaos at the police station, was revealed. He slipped out of the interrogation room into the hallway, hurried up the stairs, and fled, even hanging from a drainage pipe to evade police pursuit in a breathless sequence. Namgoong Min portrayed the extreme psychological transformation of a man whose identity shifts from a kidnapping suspect to a fugitive through his nuanced facial expressions and acting, significantly elevating the show's immersion.
The production team revealed that in episode 3, the reason Kang Tae-joo had no choice but to flee while being pursued by the police will be disclosed. They also stated, "Please pay attention to the extreme psychological changes and intense action that Namgoong Min will showcase." They added that the encounter between Kang Tae-joo and Lee Soo-hyung is a key viewing point of episode 3, and that the escape from the police station will serve as a critical turning point aligned with his goal of saving his wife.
Meanwhile, episode 3 of 'The Perfect Marriage' will air on the 11th at 9:20 PM. The series was produced with support from the Broadcasting Communications Development Fund of the Korea Communications Commission.
