TV CHOSUN's new variety show 'What Did the King Eat?' premieres on the 8th at 10 PM. The program playfully unravels the historical stories and culinary tales surrounding King Sejong's dining table. The premiere episode will also feature a short-form video showcasing the antics of the 'Palace Trio,' composed of Yang Sang-guk, Shin Gi-ru, and Ji Ye-eun.
Yang Sang-guk appears in the role of a eunuch, teaming up with 'king specialist actor' Lee Min-woo. While discussing the importance of marriage and childbirth during the Joseon Dynasty, Yang revealed that he is unmarried, drawing laughter. Choi Tae-sung joked, 'That is a national concern,' and Lee Min-woo added to the atmosphere by mentioning his own age and place of residence. Yang showed himself dodging responsibility for marriage, saying, 'What are you doing, magistrate! Get us married off first!'
Shin Gi-ru showcased his culinary knowledge, sharing stories about Jeju black cattle. 'I've tried it in Jeju and also at a Michelin-starred restaurant. Many places age black cattle,' he explained, also mentioning black cattle jerky. Hearing this, Yang Sang-guk could not hide his admiration, saying, 'If you had studied like this, you would have gone to an S-tier university.'
Ji Ye-eun revealed her endearingly clueless side with an unexpected answer during a quiz. When Choi Tae-sung asked about the health-boosting ingredient that Crown Prince Munjong prepared for King Sejong's health, Ji repeatedly said, 'Slice it and cut it...' failing to find the correct answer. Upon hearing the hint that it is a specialty of Wando, she answered, 'Beans! Wando beans!' surprising everyone. Choi Tae-sung remarked, 'There is more than one thing to teach.' The characters of the 'Palace Trio' and the historical and culinary stories behind King Sejong's dining table can be seen on the broadcast airing on the 8th at 10 PM.
