On the KOSPI market on the 9th, Kumho HT (214330) surged more than 20%, showing a strong upward trend.

As of 1:14 p.m. on this day, Kumho HT is trading at 10,900 won, up 20.71% (1,870 won) from the previous trading day. As the steep intraday rise significantly expanded volatility, the Volatility Interruption (VI) mechanism was triggered a total of 10 times.

According to the Korea Exchange, VIs—including both static and dynamic VIs—were triggered a total of 10 times for Kumho HT on this day. They were triggered consecutively shortly after 9:00 a.m., and high volatility persisted into the afternoon, with additional triggers occurring at 12:02 p.m., 12:50 p.m., and 1:05 p.m. A pattern of repeated triggering and lifting was also observed.

VI is a market stabilization mechanism that applies single-price trading for a certain period when an individual stock price surges or plunges within a short time, encouraging investors to reassess price movements.

Since stock prices moving significantly within a short period can lead to increased volatility, investors need to also monitor supply and demand changes.
