HLB's stock price fell below the 30,000-won level due to a severe contraction in investor sentiment following the receipt of a Complete Response Letter (CRL) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
As of 9:05 a.m. on the 13th, HLB was trading at 27,850 won, down 8,750 won (23.91%) from the previous trading day, showing a sharp decline.
As sell orders poured in, the high volatility led to a series of sidecar (VI) circuit breaker activations. In the pre-market NXT session, VI was triggered and released multiple times at two-minute intervals from 8:00 a.m. to 8:18 a.m. that morning. After the regular trading session opened, selling pressure continued, and the Korea Exchange (KRX) triggered a VI at 9:00:08 a.m., which was released at 9:02:10 a.m.
The market turmoil stemmed from a disclosure by Elevar Therapeutics. On the 10th, HLB announced that its U.S. subsidiary, Elevar Therapeutics, had received a CRL from the FDA regarding the first-line liver cancer treatment 'rivoceranib and camrelizumab combination therapy.' Since then, investor sentiment has rapidly frozen, with anxiety that formed before the market open carrying over into the regular trading session, drawing keen attention from investors.
