The Korea Exchange announced that it triggered a Stage 1 circuit breaker (CB) in the securities market (KOSPI) as of 1:28:32 p.m. on the 13th.
The measure was taken after the KOSPI index fell sharply to 6,871.20, a drop of 604.74 points (-8.08%) from the previous day's closing price (7,475.94). The decline of 8% or more persisted for one minute, meeting the requirements for triggering a Stage 1 circuit breaker. Accordingly, trading in the securities market will be temporarily suspended for 20 minutes. This measure is in accordance with Article 25 of the Securities Market Business Regulations and Article 39 of the Enforcement Detailed Rules of the same regulations.
The Korea Exchange also explained the conditions for triggering additional circuit breakers in preparation for market volatility.

- Stage 2 Circuit Breaker: Will be triggered if the KOSPI index subsequently falls 15% or more from the previous day's closing price and the state of declining an additional 1% or more below the Stage 1 trigger index persists for one minute (trading suspended for 20 minutes).
- Stage 3 Circuit Breaker: Will be triggered if, after the Stage 2 trigger, the index falls 20% or more from the previous day's closing price and the state of declining an additional 1% or more below the Stage 2 trigger index persists for one minute (all trading in the securities market completely closed for the day).
