Shakira, who sang the official theme song 'Dai Dai' for the 2026 North and Central America World Cup, has adorned both the beginning and the end of the tournament, once again proving her special connection with the World Cup.

Shakira delivered the opening performance at the inauguration ceremony held on June 12 at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, in front of approximately 87,000 spectators. Additionally, she will take the stage as a co-headliner at the halftime show of the final, scheduled for 4:00 AM on July 20 at MetLife Stadium in New York, making her the only artist to experience both the opening and closing of this tournament.

'Dai Dai' features Shakira on vocals, Nigerian artist Burna Boy as a featured artist, and British singer Ed Sheeran as the composer. Immediately after its release, the song topped the Spotify Global Song Chart and Billboard's 'Global (Excl. U.S.)' chart, marking the first time a World Cup official theme song has reached number one on the Billboard Global Chart since its inception. This achievement surpasses the fourth-place record set by BTS Jungkook's 'Dreamers' at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

To date, 'Dai Dai' has surpassed 100 million cumulative streams on Spotify and 370 million views across YouTube official videos and music videos. It also ranked first on iTunes digital sales charts in 56 countries. Alongside this, Shakira has surpassed 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify, setting a record as the first and highest-ranking Latin female artist to achieve this milestone.

Following her appearances at the 2006 Germany, 2010 South Africa, and 2014 Brazil tournaments, Shakira's participation in this 2026 edition marks her fourth involvement in an official World Cup project, holding the record for the most appearances.

Beyond music, she continues to exert a positive influence. All royalties from 'Dai Dai' are being donated to the 'FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund,' jointly operated by FIFA and Global Citizen. Additionally, during her 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran' world tour (which drew a total audience of 3.3 million and generated $421.6 million in revenue), she is donating one dollar per ticket sold to the same fund. This fund is used to improve educational environments and provide sports opportunities for marginalized children worldwide.

Shakira's halftime show at the final will be broadcast live worldwide at 4:00 AM on July 20.
