On the 17th (local time), U.S. quantum computing-related stocks closed mixed. Even as weakness in semiconductor stocks dampened overall investment sentiment in tech shares, some stocks recorded gains, reflecting a differentiated trend within the sector.

Among the declining stocks on the day, Quantum fell 0.79%, while IonQ dropped 0.91%. D-Wave Quantum also slipped 1.12% to close lower. GenDx Quantum Technologies fell 1.86%, and QTrakx Quantum plunged 5.22%, marking the steepest decline of the session.

On the other hand, gainers were also notable. Quantum Computing rose 2.09%, showing a relatively strong trend, while IQM Quantum Computers (0.75%) and Infleqtion (0.33%) also climbed. Rigetti Computing edged up 0.07%, holding near the flat line.

Recently, the U.S. stock market has seen continued selling pressure across tech stocks overall, as concerns over the overvaluation of artificial intelligence (AI)-related stocks have coincided with a correction in the semiconductor sector. Quantum computing stocks have also been affected by this sentiment, but on this day, rather than the entire sector moving in one direction, a stock-by-stock differentiated trend emerged.

The market expects that for the time being, investment sentiment in the semiconductor sector and the broader trend of U.S. tech stocks will have a significant impact on the share prices of quantum computing stocks. In particular, the earnings reports of major technology companies scheduled for next week and forecasts related to AI investment are cited as key variables that will determine future investment sentiment.
