Samsung Electro-Mechanics (009150) showed strength, driven by expectations of expanding demand for high-value-added artificial intelligence (AI)-related components. Market attention is focused on the second-quarter earnings release scheduled for the 30th and the subsequent stock price trajectory.

On the 22nd, in the Korea Exchange (KRX) market, Samsung Electro-Mechanics closed the session at 1,345,000 won, up 35,000 won (2.67%) from the previous trading day. Expectations of expanding demand for components used in AI servers and data centers, along with expectations for earnings improvement, acted as factors supporting the stock price increase.

Investors' biggest focus is on Samsung Electro-Mechanics' second-quarter earnings, which will be announced on the 30th of this month. The market views the degree of profitability improvement in its core businesses of MLCC (Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitors) and package substrates, as well as how concretely AI-related demand is reflected in the financial statements, as the key points that will determine the stock price.

At the same time, the earnings season of U.S. Big Tech companies, which will be released around the same period, is also cited as an important variable. Starting with Tesla on the 23rd (Korean time), followed by Intel on the 24th, Microsoft and Meta on the 30th, and Amazon and Apple on the 31st, they are scheduled to sequentially release their earnings results.

If the earnings or future outlook of global Big Tech companies fall short of market expectations, there is a possibility that profit-taking sell-offs could emerge in related domestic stocks, requiring careful attention from investors.
