[Breaking] Kukdo Chemical Surges 16% in NXT on Q2 'Earnings Surprise'... Operating Profit Soars 184.8%

Kukdo Chemical (007690) is heightening expectations for settling in the 40,000-won range by significantly expanding its stock price gains in the NXT (after-market) session following the release of its second-quarter earnings.

As of 5:16 p.m. on the 23rd, Kukdo Chemical traded at 43,300 won in the NXT, up 6,050 won (16.24%) from the previous trading day. The stock had risen 5.91% during the regular trading session, and strong buying pressure continued to flow in after market close, extending its upward trajectory.

Q2 Earnings Show 'Surprise Growth'... Operating Profit Up 184.8% Year-over-Year

Kukdo Chemical disclosed its preliminary consolidated operating results for the second quarter on this day. The strong performance is interpreted as having powerfully stimulated investor sentiment.

According to the disclosure, Q2 revenue stood at 534.254 billion won, up 53.2% year-over-year and 29.1% quarter-over-quarter. Operating profit for the same period recorded 47.954 billion won, surging 184.8% year-over-year and 365.5% quarter-over-quarter. Based on these figures, the operating profit margin was approximately 9.0%.

Profitability improvement was also notable. Profit before tax from continuing operations reached 54.796 billion won, up 335.6% year-over-year and 1,423.8% quarter-over-quarter. Net income came in at 43.888 billion won, increasing 412.1% year-over-year and 2,748.3% quarter-over-quarter. Net income attributable to controlling interest shareholders also rose sharply to 43.592 billion won, up 420.2% year-over-year and 2,828.4% quarter-over-quarter.

First-Half Cumulative Results Also Trending Upward

This year's first-half cumulative results also showed clear growth. First-half revenue was 948.183 billion won, up 42.0% from the same period last year, while operating profit rose 95.9% to 58.256 billion won.

During the same period, net income reached 45.429 billion won and net income attributable to controlling interest shareholders stood at 45.080 billion won, expanding 217.2% and 220.4%, respectively.

Market Reaction and Caveats

The market analyzes that buying pressure has continued even after market close as the earnings improvement trend was confirmed. In particular, the triple-digit year-over-year growth rates in both operating profit and net profit are evaluated to have positively contributed to improving investor sentiment.

However, the earnings announced this time are preliminary consolidated results prepared in accordance with the Korean International Financial Reporting Standards (K-IFRS). Since the review by the external auditor has not yet been completed, it should be noted that there may be some differences from the finalized earnings in the future.
