On the 24th, the KOSDAQ market plunged more than 5%, falling below the 750 level. Most of the top market capitalization stocks posted steep declines, and investors are on high alert over whether a rebound will occur on the first trading day of the new week.
The KOSDAQ index closed at 748.22, down 42.06 points (5.32%) from the previous trading day. Selling pressure expanded from early in the session, pushing the index below the 750 mark, and investor sentiment contracted significantly, particularly in growth and technology stocks.
The majority of the top market capitalization stocks recorded declines. Alteogen fell 1.96% from the previous trading day to 305,000 won, barely defending the 300,000-won level. In the secondary battery sector, Ecopro (-7.35%) and Ecopro BM (-8.38%) showed joint weakness amid deteriorating investor sentiment. Rainbow Robotics plunged 17.62%, recording the steepest drop among top market capitalization stocks.
Semiconductor equipment stocks were not spared from the sell-off. Jusung Engineering fell 13.97%, Wonik IPS dropped 11.30%, Reno Industrial declined 7.17%, and PSK lost 8.34%, as the downward trend spread across the entire sector. Meanwhile, HLB finished trading up 4.33% at 31,300 won, showing rare strength among top market cap stocks. ABL Bio closed down 2.56%.
The KOSDAQ market's decline widened as profit-taking sell-offs swept across growth stocks in general, compounded by deteriorating global investor sentiment. In particular, selling pressure was concentrated in major sectors such as semiconductors, robotics, and secondary batteries.
The market is paying attention to the possibility that volatility driven by external factors may continue on the first trading day of the new week. However, there are also observations that a technical rebound could emerge if bargain-hunting flows into stocks whose price burdens have eased following the recent sharp decline.
