Samsung Biologics (207940) demonstrated unrivaled strength, closing as the only gainer among the top 10 stocks by market capitalization in a broad KOSPI sell-off.

In the regular trading session on the 24th, Samsung Biologics finished at 1,518,000 won, up 139,000 won (10.08%) from the previous trading day. Strong buying pressure flowed in during the session, pushing the stock back above the 1.5 million-won level. While large-cap stocks were broadly weak, it recorded overwhelming relative strength compared to the broader market.

On the same day, the KOSPI closed at 6,690.62, plunging 406.27 points (5.72%) from the previous session as investor sentiment shrank due to rising geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran. Most of the top 10 stocks by market capitalization declined sharply, but Samsung Biologics extended its strong upward trend, presenting a stark contrast.

The strong earnings report released the previous day is cited as the background for the stock's rally. On the 23rd, Samsung Biologics announced that it recorded consolidated revenue of 1.3209 trillion won and operating profit of 586.4 billion won for the second quarter of this year. Revenue increased 30% year-on-year, while operating profit also grew 23%, proving a solid growth trajectory.

However, global stock market volatility and the trajectory of geopolitical risks are cited as variables that could influence the future stock price movement.
