As of 9:52 a.m. on July 27 (Korean time), the international silver price stood at $60.10 per ounce, based on SI on the New York Mercantile Exchange. This represents a 2.03% increase from the previous day.

On the 24th (local time), amid mixed performance among major indices in the U.S. New York stock market, silver prices continued their upward trend. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, centered on large-cap blue-chip stocks, rose, but technology and small-to-mid-cap stocks showed weakness, indicating that investors' risk appetite did not clearly tilt in one direction.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index closed at 24,975.82, down 161.87 points. The decline of 0.64% marks the largest drop among major indices. During the session, it rose as high as 25,222.14 but gave up its gains and turned downward.

Unlike gold, silver simultaneously possesses the characteristics of both a safe-haven asset and an industrial raw material. Because it is widely used across manufacturing sectors, including solar panels, electric vehicles, and electronic and electrical components, sustained weakness in technology and cyclical stocks could limit price increases due to concerns over slowing industrial demand. The CME Group explained that industrial demand, including from solar panels and electric vehicles, accounts for a significant portion of the silver market.

Amid diverging directions in the stock market, some demand seeking safe-haven assets has flowed into the silver market.
