OCI Holdings (010060) showed a sharp decline early in the trading session on the 27th, leading to the Volatility Interruption (VI) mechanism being triggered successively both before and during the market session.
According to the Korea Exchange (KR), a static VI was triggered at 9:05:06 a.m. Earlier, during the pre-market NXT (simultaneous quotation) session, dynamic VIs were triggered three times at 8:00 a.m., 8:02 a.m., and 8:04 a.m., significantly expanding volatility.
As of 9:23 a.m., OCI Holdings is trading at 206,000 won, down 44,000 won (17.60%) from the previous trading day. Selling pressure concentrated early in the session pushed the stock price down to the low 200,000-won range.
At the same time, the broader domestic stock market is showing overall strength. The KOSPI is up 49.94 points (0.74%) at 6,740.56, while the KOSDAQ has risen 24.40 points (3.26%) to 772.62, indicating a recovery in risk asset preference.
Nevertheless, OCI Holdings suffered selling pressure related to company-specific issues, independent of the broader market's upward trend, resulting in a sharp decline. The consecutive VI triggers are interpreted as a result of rapidly surging short-term price volatility.
