Lifetime's Saturday-Sunday drama 'Empathy Cell' has come to a grand finale, depicting the tearful parting and reunion of Cha Eun-hwan (Kim Myung-soo) and Yu Ji-an (Kang Min-ah).

In the final episode aired on the 26th, the truth behind the past accident that caused the couple's breakup and the events that followed were deeply portrayed. Yu Ji-an belatedly comes to realize the story of Cha Eun-hwan's father, who lost his life trying to save her when she was young, as well as the pain of Cha Song-hwan (Cha Min-ji), who became reliant on a wheelchair due to that incident. Through this, she finally understands the real reason behind Cha Eun-hwan's anguish whenever he dealt with her.

Yu Ji-an's mother, Choi Jung-mi (Son Ji-na), suddenly returns to Korea and falsely claims that she was the one who saved Yu Ji-an during the accident. At the same time, she pressured her daughter, saying, "You must never let Cha Eun-hwan find out. His father died because of you." Choi Jung-mi then took control of Yu Ji-an's management and even interfered in film production, demanding reduced screen time for Han I-jin (Kwon So-hyun) among other acts of interference. Exhausted by her mother's control and Cha Eun-hwan's absence, Yu Ji-an became entangled in a controversy over her abusive behavior with a neurotic attitude and disappeared from the public eye.

Cha Eun-hwan, who had been searching everywhere for Yu Ji-an, spent his nights drinking and vowed to find her no matter what. Cha Song-hwan, who had previously asked Yu Ji-an to leave, also suffered, regretting her own words. Finally, upon discovering Yu Ji-an's whereabouts, Cha Eun-hwan succeeded in reuniting with her.

After the reunion, Yu Ji-an revealed to Kim Jun-sik (Jung Hee-tae) that it was her mother, Choi Jung-mi, who orchestrated the controversy over her abusive behavior from behind the scenes, and declared she would sever ties with her. She then handed Choi Jung-mi a contract termination notice, firmly stating, "I will no longer destroy myself to be loved by my mother." Afterward, Yu Ji-an visited the columbarium where Cha Eun-hwan's father's remains are kept together with him and told Cha Eun-hwan she wanted to break up, revealing she had already known about his father's death.

One year later. When Cha Eun-hwan discovers a bouquet of flowers at the columbarium and rushes outside, he reunites with Yu Ji-an, who was in a nearby flower field. The two looked at each other and shared deep smiles.
