CBC News

Even amid the overall chilling trend in the stock market, Oriental Precision (014940) is drawing market attention with a sharp surge significant enough to trigger the Volatility Interruption (VI).

As of 1:42 p.m. on the 28th, Oriental Precision's stock price is trading at 5,000 won, up 475 won (10.50%) from the previous trading day, showing a strong upward trend. As the stock price soared rapidly during trading hours, the Korea Exchange activated a static Volatility Interruption (VI) at 1:15:54 p.m. on the same day, and lifted it approximately two minutes later at 1:18:01 p.m.

Around the same time, the domestic stock market as a whole is unable to escape a steep downward trend. The KOSPI fell by more than 10% to 6,074.16, and the KOSDAQ also dropped by more than 7% to 705.87, showing a significant contraction in investor sentiment. In the U.S. stock market overnight, weakness centered on semiconductor stocks led to mixed results across major indices, and the dominant analysis is that this sentiment has carried over directly to the domestic market.

Even amid the broader market weakness, Oriental Precision is recording a meaningful double-digit gain, demonstrating relative strength. Investors are keeping a close eye on whether trading volume will continue to increase, whether overall market investor sentiment will recover, and whether the current upward trend can be sustained even after the VI was lifted.
