■ International Gold Prices: Attention Focused on Two Key Variables
The direction of the international gold market is likely to see expanded volatility depending on U.S. foreign policy and the release of major economic indicators.
First, U.S. President Donald Trump stated on the 27th (local time) that negotiations with Iran are underway and a deal is possible. However, he also reaffirmed his stance that a hardline response could follow if the negotiations fail to produce results. The market is closely watching whether the Middle East situation will transition into a de-escalation phase or tensions will flare up again.
Second, the U.S. June Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index, scheduled for release on the 30th (Korean time), is also cited as a key variable. Since the PCE is an important indicator referenced by the U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed) when making monetary policy decisions, interest rate outlooks and the value of the dollar could be affected depending on the results.
The precious metals market, including gold, is expected to seek direction by incorporating both future economic indicators and geopolitical issues.
