Hanwha Ocean (042660) shares are showing a sharp downward trend, with the Volatility Interruption (VI) mechanism triggered multiple times even before the market open amid a steep decline. Both major indices also crumbled under a sudden wave of selling.

According to the Korea Exchange on the 29th, dynamic VI was triggered consecutively for Hanwha Ocean in the pre-market NXT session at 8:00:02 a.m. and 8:02:06 a.m. Subsequently, dynamic VI was activated again in the KRX market during regular trading hours at 11:05:14 a.m.

As of 11:06 a.m., Hanwha Ocean is trading at 75,000 won on the NXT basis, down 6,000 won (7.41%) from the previous trading day. Selling pressure intensified from the early hours of the session, widening the loss, and the resulting increase in volatility led to a total of three VI activations combined in the pre-market and regular market.

Market-wide investor sentiment has also contracted significantly. At the same time, the KOSPI recorded 5,743.24, down 280.42 points (4.65%) from the previous day, while the KOSDAQ fell 38.28 points (5.42%) to 667.57, reflecting a synchronized plunge.

In particular, investor sentiment cooled so rapidly in the domestic stock market on this day that selling sidecars were triggered in both the KOSPI and KOSDAQ markets, temporarily halting program trading. As selling by foreigners and institutions expanded, declines deepened across top market-cap stocks.
