As of 10:42 p.m. on the 29th Korean time, U.S. nuclear power and nuclear-related stocks are showing mixed movements across individual stocks.
With the U.S. Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) interest rate decision approaching, investor sentiment is increasingly cautious, and a clear divergence is emerging between power utility and small modular reactor (SMR) related stocks.
■ Gaining Stocks As of the same time, NextEra Energy is up 0.81%, showing strength. Duke Energy (0.22%), Exelon (0.02%), Tempation (2.12%), and LightBridge (0.12%) are also continuing their upward trends.
■ Declining Stocks On the other hand, nuclear power and SMR-related stocks are mostly weak. Constellation Energy fell 0.04%, while Cameco (0.90%), AXIA Energy ADR (0.58%), BWX Technologies (2.02%), Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) ADR (1.28%), and Talen Energy (1.27%) each declined.
Oklo, a leading SMR stock, dropped 1.89%, and Uranium Energy (1.48%), Centrus Energy (3.71%), NuScale Power (1.45%), Energy Fuels (1.05%), Denison Mines (1.45%), and Nano Nuclear Energy (1.93%) also recorded losses.
■ Outlook Some analysts suggest that in the short term, investors should monitor the FOMC results, interest rate outlook, and Big Tech earnings reports. In particular, recent nuclear-related stocks are showing an expanding pattern of volatility on an individual stock basis.
