A path has been opened for retail investors in Hong Kong to directly trade Ripple (XRP).
OSL Launches XRP Spot Trading for Retail Investors in Hong Kong for the First Time
According to crypto media outlet CoinGape, OSL Digital Securities, a subsidiary of OSL Group, announced on July 29 (local time) via X (formerly Twitter) that it had launched XRP spot trading for retail investors in Hong Kong. OSL became the first platform licensed by the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) to offer XRP spot trading to retail investors.
Alongside the service launch, OSL supports Flash Trade XRP/USD as well as over-the-counter (OTC) XRP/USD and XRP/HKD trading. All transactions are processed on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). Accordingly, XRP has become the fourth cryptocurrency available for retail investor trading on OSL, following Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana.
Previously, in December 2025 (local time), OSL launched XRP/HKD, XRP/USD, and XRP/USDT Flash Trade services for professional investors, but at the time, these were only available to institutions and high-net-worth individuals.
CoinGape assessed that the support for XRP/HKD trading is particularly significant. This is because it establishes a channel for Hong Kong residents to directly purchase XRP with Hong Kong dollars in a regulated trading environment without having to go through overseas exchanges.
OSL holds Type 1 and Type 7 licenses from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission and has also completed registration under the Anti-Money Laundering Ordinance (AMLO). Additionally, it is equipped with insurance covering up to 1 billion USD in customer assets.
U.S. Still Debating Legislation... Asia Accelerates Regulatory Infrastructure Expansion
Meanwhile, in the United States, discussions surrounding the CLARITY Act are still ongoing in Congress. CoinGape reported that while the U.S. market regulatory framework has not yet been finalized, Asia continues to build cryptocurrency infrastructure with proper regulations in place.
CoinGape noted that Hong Kong's latest move is part of a broader trend occurring across Asia. This indicates that while the U.S. deliberates on relevant legislation, trading platforms in Asia have been steadily expanding regulated trading environments for XRP. Furthermore, OSL's launch of retail investor trading coincided with XRP spot ETFs recording eight consecutive weeks of net inflows.
According to data from SoSoValue, cumulative net inflows into XRP spot ETFs reached 1.49 billion USD. CoinGape interpreted this as a signal that institutional investment demand continues to persist.
According to CoinGape, citing data from Evernorth, the scale of Real World Asset (RWA) tokenization on the XRPL has surged from approximately 150 million USD a year ago to over 4 billion USD currently. Additionally, citing Messari data, it reported that the supply of Ripple's stablecoin RLUSD increased by 45% in the first quarter of 2026 (local time). CoinGape analyzed that the continued expansion of the XRPL-based real-world asset market and the inflow of funds into XRP ETFs demonstrate that institutional capital is genuinely responding to changes in the foundational conditions of the XRP ecosystem.
Regulatory Foundation Expanding in Europe as Well... "Acceleration of XRP Integration into Mainstream Finance"
Furthermore, CoinGape reported that Ripple's regulatory foundation has recently expanded in Europe as well. Some legal experts view that XRP and XRPL already possess a structure that meets the standards of the U.S. CLARITY Act, and CoinGape reported that this is being evaluated as a factor strengthening XRP's position across multiple countries.
