Hyosung Chemical successfully returned to profitability on a consolidated basis in the second quarter of 2026, recording an operating profit of 170.8 billion won, marking a turnaround from both the same period last year and the previous quarter.

According to the consolidated (preliminary) financial statements disclosed by Hyosung Chemical on the 31st, the key Q2 performance figures are as follows:

  • *[Q2 Performance Summary]**

  • Operating Profit: 170.8 billion won (increased approximately 61,549.87% from 3 million won in the previous quarter; turned to black from a loss of 90 million won in the same period last year)
  • Profit Before Income Tax from Continuing Operations: 143.5 billion won (turned to black from a loss of 16.6 billion won in the previous quarter and a loss of 94.6 billion won in the same period last year)
  • Net Income: 156.0 billion won (turned to black from a loss of 17.5 billion won in the previous quarter, up 52.4% from 102.4 billion won in the same period last year)
  • Net Income Attributable to Owners of the Parent Company: 121.8 billion won (turned to black from a loss of 5.5 billion won in the previous quarter, up 13.1% from 107.7 billion won in the same period last year)

[Cumulative First-Half Performance] Cumulative revenue for the first half of this year stood at 1.4583 trillion won, representing a 22.6% increase compared to the same period last year. Operating profit for the first half amounted to 171.0 billion won, achieving a turnaround from the same period last year, which recorded an operating loss of 61.1 billion won. Profit before income tax from continuing operations also turned to black at 126.8 billion won, compared to a loss of 180.3 billion won in the same period last year.

During the same period, net income reached 138.4 billion won and net income attributable to owners of the parent company recorded 116.3 billion won, representing decreases of 70.9% and 75.9%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. This was attributed to the high base effect of net income formed in the first half of the previous year.

Meanwhile, Hyosung Chemical noted that these figures are preliminary consolidated results prepared in accordance with the Korean International Financial Reporting Standards (K-IFRS) and may be subject to partial changes during the audit process, as the external auditor's accounting audit has not yet been completed.
