U.S. quantum computing-related stocks showed mixed movements on the last trading day of July, July 31 (local time). While IonQ continued its upward trend, some stocks faced selling pressure from profit-taking, leading to weakness. Investors are closely watching the direction of these stocks on the first trading day of August.

Among major stocks, IonQ rose 1.87%, showing a relatively solid trend. Rigetti Computing also gained 0.60%, closing in slightly positive territory, and Quantum Computing climbed 0.99%. Notably, QBTECH Quantum surged 8.42%, recording the highest gain of the day.

On the other hand, D-Wave Quantum Technologies fell 2.35%, and Inflection dropped 1.50%. Quantinuum also declined 0.27%, closing in slightly negative territory, indicating that selling pressure dominated in some stocks.

As differentiation among individual stocks continues, some analysts emphasize the need to closely examine company-specific issues. Notably, IonQ recently completed its acquisition of U.S. semiconductor foundry company SkyWater Technology, accelerating the construction of a quantum computing platform based on vertical integration.

On the same day, the broader U.S. stock market closed higher. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.53%, the S&P 500 index gained 0.70%, and the Nasdaq index climbed 1.00%, with buying momentum continuing primarily in technology stocks.

Attention is now focused on whether investor sentiment toward quantum computing stocks will recover or shift into a consolidation phase.
