KBS 2TV's new daily drama 'Trap of Desire' is set to premiere on August 10 at 7:50 PM. Scheduled to follow 'Red Pearl,' the drama depicts a revenge story of a woman framed for murder who fights against enormous desire to reclaim her fate.

Director Lee Dae-kyung, who helms the production, said he found the inner lives of various characters and the process through which their desires unfold fascinating in the script. He stated that he would densely portray the process of each character's desire crossing the line, allowing viewers to experience a wide range of emotions from empathy to anger, compassion, and love. He also added that he focused on delving deep into the characters' inner worlds and capturing the actors' nuanced performances.

Writer Koo Ji-won emphasized that this drama is not simply a revenge tale where a victim punishes a perpetrator. Instead, it portrays the cruelty of human nature through the contrast of 'the real and the fake,' where one person's obsessive desire overturns the fates of two individuals. Writer Koo explained, 'Rather than being caught up in events, the villain orchestrates the scheme and drives the narrative by manipulating the characters.' She noted that Joo Mi-ran leads all the events, and as Eun-seol and Seok-jin's first love and Hae-ra's obsession become intertwined, the drama delivers tension and a distinctive kind of entertainment in every episode.

They also expressed confidence in the cast. Director Lee Dae-kyung evaluated Jang Seo-hee as the most convincing choice to portray the character Mi-ran, while praising Jun Hye-won for her outstanding acting skills and unique presence. He revealed that the casting focused on selecting actors with diverse images and acting tones to bring to life characters harboring a variety of desires. Writer Koo Ji-won also emphasized that the intense acting synergy between Jang Seo-hee and Jun Hye-won is the most powerful weapon of 'Trap of Desire.'

Both creators evaluated the work as a drama where not only the lead characters but every role, down to the supporting parts, is meaningfully portrayed. They expressed their hope that viewers would share the characters' emotions and feel the satisfaction and comfort of truth prevailing. They added that the drama carries a message that ultimately, it is love and willpower that lifts people up, even amid real-life injustices.
