Strait of Hormuz Reopening Negotiations: Attention Focuses on Conclusion

Alongside these trends in the precious metals market, global geopolitical factors are also drawing attention. According to a report by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Iran and Oman are in the final stages of drafting a 60-day interim agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

According to a senior Iranian official cited by Reuters, Iran is demanding a fee of 5 to 7% of the value of cargo carried by ships transiting the strait. Oman is in discussions at around the 3% level, while the United States is known to oppose the imposition of any fee altogether.

All eyes in the precious metals and broader commodities markets are focused on what conclusion the negotiations will reach.
