The global commerce national tournament ENA's 'X the League' has entered its first main mission, 'Ranking Determination,' with teams from eight countries participating. This mission determines rankings based on sales revenue throughout Round 1, with sellers from each country deploying various strategies and experiencing mixed fortunes.
In particular, the Korean team's 'Kkah-eonni' is drawing attention with overwhelming results. She selected a rice cooker brand as her flagship product and succeeded in securing the products at an all-time lowest price through negotiations with the headquarters. Kkah-eonni explained the background of her conviction that rice cookers are her core flagship product, saying, "I started as a CS part-timer, went through an MD role, and currently serve as a company director."
Her relentless strategy also shone during the negotiation process with the headquarters' marketing team. When Kkah-eonni presented the lowest online price and requested an additional discount, the marketing manager opposed it. However, the final decision-maker at the headquarters accepted the bold proposal, responding, "You made a big decision from above. This is an unprecedented 'first-ever price.'" Thanks to this negotiating power, the Korean team recorded a staggering 270 million won in sales on the first day of Round 1, claiming first place overall.
Meanwhile, other countries took different paths. The Thai team drew attention when Cathy, a 'golden spoon seller,' revealed a mansion comparable to a five-star hotel. Cathy's father, Dr. Sunil, who is the CEO of a toothpaste brand, pledged full support with a 50% discount when toothpaste was selected as the Thai team's mission product, saying, "I will go all out with an unprecedented, groundbreaking price."
The Indonesian team, despite having a combined follower count of over 170 million among its members and even holding a local press conference, fell short with lackluster sales during a joint livestream. During this process, internal conflicts emerged within the team, with differing opinions such as "We missed the timing by starting sales on the fifth day of Round 1" and "It couldn't be helped because it was the Lebaran holiday."
The 40 global sellers across the eight teams participating in this competition selected products they were confident in and formulated sales strategies in a showroom displaying around 200 brands. They then negotiated directly with the brands on price, product composition, and shipping conditions. As sales varied significantly depending on product conditions, the negotiation skills and market analysis capabilities of sellers from each country emerged as key factors in determining the outcome.
Episode 2 of ENA's 'X the League' will air on the 9th at 7:50 PM.
