Director Na Hong-jin's new film 'Hope' will be sequentially released in approximately 200 countries and territories worldwide starting in September.

Distributor Plus M Entertainment announced on the 5th that 'Hope' is set to premiere in Taiwan on September 4, followed by a North American release on September 9. It will subsequently meet audiences in major markets including Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Latin America, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Hong Kong, Japan, Vietnam, and Singapore.

Global majors have fully mobilized for the film's overseas distribution. NEON will handle distribution for North America and English-speaking territories, while Focus Features/UPI, Sony Pictures Global Worldwide Acquisitions, and MUBI are participating as partners in respective countries. This large-scale deal was struck following the film's invitation to the competition section of the Cannes International Film Festival, simultaneously setting a new record for the highest overseas pre-sales of a Korean film.

A re-edited version, which refined creature scenes, sound, and editing after the Cannes Film Festival, was unveiled at premieres in Los Angeles and New York, generating significant buzz. Film criticism outlet IndieWire praised it, stating, "The narrative flow has become much more natural, and it ranks among the best action films in recent years."

'Hope' marks Director Na Hong-jin's first feature film in ten years since 'The Wailing.' The story follows Beom-seok (played by Hwang Jung-min), the head of the Hope Port field office in the Demilitarized Zone, who receives news that a tiger has appeared in the village. The cast includes Hwang Jung-min, Jo In-sung, Jung Ho-yeon, Taylor Russell, Cameron Britton, Alicia Vikander, and Michael Fassbender.

Having opened domestically on July 15 and currently screening in theaters nationwide, 'Hope' now continues its journey to meet overseas audiences.
