Democratic Party of Korea presidential candidate Jung Cheong-rae pointed out that the party is at risk of being seen as an 'unconstitutional party' in connection with the recently emerged 'Shincheonji allegations' controversy. Furthermore, he expressed a strong commitment that ethics investigation and disciplinary action against Representative Kim Min-seok are unavoidable.

At a policy meeting with the Gyeonggi Province Honam Provincial Association on the 6th, candidate Jung pointed out that no concrete evidence has been presented regarding the Shincheonji allegations raised by Representative Kim Min-seok. He stated that if elected party leader, he would instruct the ethics investigation team to conduct an investigation using his direct authority, even without discussion with the Supreme Council members.

In particular, candidate Jung emphasized that if the head of the ethics investigation team reports to the party leader that it constitutes a 'baseless allegation,' he would regard it as such conduct and immediately refer the matter to the Ethics Tribunal to initiate disciplinary proceedings.

Finally, he made it clear that Representative Kim Min-seok must also be subject to an ethics investigation without exception, adding, "Even if Jung Cheong-rae had said those words, he would have to undergo an ethics investigation."
