On the morning of the 8th, a motorboat capsized in waters near Odongdo, Yeosu, Jeollanam-do, leaving one dead and one missing out of five people on board.
According to the Yeosu Coast Guard and other sources on the 8th, a series of reports were received by 119 and the Coast Guard at around 9:54 a.m. that day stating that a one-ton motorboat had flipped over in waters near Odongdo. At the time of the accident, a total of five people, including the captain, were aboard the boat.
The Yeosu Coast Guard immediately dispatched patrol vessels and rescue teams to the scene, rescuing four of the five people on board. The captain, who was among those rescued, was taken to the hospital in a state of cardiac arrest but ultimately died, while the remaining three sustained minor injuries.
Currently, the Yeosu Coast Guard is conducting an intensive search operation centered on the accident area, mobilizing all available rescue personnel, including patrol vessels, rescue teams, and nearby police station staff, to find the one person who has been missing since the time of the accident.
