An accident occurred in an alley in Changsin-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, where a sanitation worker in his 60s who was collecting waste was struck by a parked truck and killed.
According to the Hyehwa Police Station in Seoul on the 8th, police were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report that a male sanitation worker in his 60s, identified as Mr. A, had collapsed in an alley in Changsin-dong, Jongno-gu, at around 3 a.m. the previous day. At the scene, a truck used for waste collection was found stopped after crashing into a wall.
Mr. A was transported to a hospital immediately after being found but was ultimately pronounced dead. Police and the Ministry of Employment and Labor believe the accident occurred when the vehicle moved while Mr. A was working, and are investigating the exact circumstances. In particular, they are focusing on determining the specific cause of why the vehicle moved at that time.
