Bloomberg reported on the 7th (local time), citing multiple sources, that SK Hynix is discussing plans to sell its stake in a semiconductor packaging (back-end) plant in Chongqing, China, with its advisors.
The Chongqing plant, which began mass production in July 2014, is SK Hynix's core hub for NAND flash packaging and testing in China. According to Bloomberg, Chinese funds and local semiconductor companies are being mentioned as potential buyers, and if a deal is reached, the stake is estimated to be worth approximately 3 billion USD (around 4 trillion won). A plan to retain a minority stake even after the sale is also under consideration.
However, the discussions are in their early stages, making it uncertain whether the sale will materialize, and specific details regarding the method and timeline have not been disclosed. SK Hynix declined to comment on related inquiries.
